Heart, who kick off in season six later this year, wanted to make a big PR splash before Christmas with their new name, logo and colours.
The franchise said it had lodged the relevant documents with FFA in December and hoped for a swift turnaround to enter 2010 with these key announcements signed off.
However as of today, the Victorian club is still to waiting for confirmation from the national governing body.
It now appears Heart will announce their colours, logo and name as early as Monday of next week but that remains unconfirmed with Heart insiders increasingly agitated at the hold up.
With the club aiming to begin selling memberships from February, every day counts stress insiders.
"It's in the FFA's hands, we just have to wait. We'd have liked to have this all done by Christmas so it's frustrating," says one club source.
Speaking to this website late last year Heart CEO Scott Munn said he had hoped for "an early Christmas present" by announcing the name, logo and colours of his new team.
The new club is set to play all their home games at the 31,000-capacity Swans St rectangular stadium (nicknamed the "Bubble Dome").
By contrast, Melbourne Victory will play some of their bigger games back at Etihad Stadium - a point that's riled some Victory fans.
Munn added in December: "We feel being able to offer our fans one seat for every game at the same venue is a really unique situation."
